Liverpool fail to win Philipp Degen appeal

Liverpool have failed in an attempt to have a red card shown to Philipp Degen rescinded, and the Swiss defender will now serve a three-match domestic ban. Degen was dismissed in Liverpool's Premier League defeat to Fulham last weekend when referee Lee Mason ruled that his tackle on Clint Dempsey was a dangerous one.
