Tony Parkes has quit as manager of Championship club Blackpool after opting not to turn his caretaker role into a permanent one. Parkes and Steve Thompson took over at the Seasiders following Simon Grayson's mid-season defection to Leeds and helped drag them to safety with a fine late run of form. However, after talks with chairman Karl Oyston last week failed to convince Parkes to stay on, the 50-year-old has decided to step down for family reasons. ''Tony's now decided to leave Blackpool.
