    Alan Smith is reportedly furious at Newcastle United's attempts to offload him to Middlesbrough as part of a swap deal which would bring striker Mido to St James's Park. According to the The Sun newspaper Smith, who arrived at Newcastle 18 months ago following a £6 million transfer from Manchester United, had not been told by his club that they were in negotiations with Boro.
