River Plate president Jose Maria Aguilar has revealed the club were offered Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro. Aguilar claims the 29-year-old Peru striker's agent approached the club ahead of the start of the Apertura, which starts next month. However, Aguilar said the club were unable to afford the former Bayern Munich man's contract so could not follow up on the offer. He told reporters: 'We have had an informal chat only.
