Thursday, January 8, 2004 CARSON, Calif. -- The Los Angeles Galaxy has named former U.S. national team midfielder Martin Vasquez as an assistant coach. Vasquez, 40, was an assistant coach with the San Diego Spirit of the defunct Women's United Soccer Association from 2001-2002, and an assistant with Cal Poly Pomona's men's and women's teams from 1999-2000. Vasquez's playing career included eight seasons in Mexico's First Division, three in Major League Soccer and seven games with the U.S. national team in 1996 ... Activate your ESPN Profile!
