Reports: Sox decline Gonzalez's option

The Red Sox declined a $6 million option on shortstop Alex Gonzalez, according to multiple reports. Gonzalez's agent, Eric Goldschmidt, confirmed the news, which was first reported by the Boston Globe, to Comcast SportsNet. The move would not preclude the Red Sox from trying to bring Gonzalez back at a lesser price.
