Each week, the Patriots' usage of sub packages on defense is analyzed. Through seven games, the defense has been in sub -- with one or two extra defensive backs -- almost 50 percent of the time. The personnel within the sub packages has varied. Sometimes, the Patriots have played with an extra cornerback.
