Wednesday, November 4, 2009 Cuban first baseman Jose Julio Ruiz, a defector who was declared a free agent this summer, continues to impress scouts during workouts. In the past two weeks, Ruiz has worked out for the Boston Red Sox and the Detroit Tigers, among other teams. What might help improve Ruiz's value is the experience he accrued in the outfield during his career in the National Series in Cuba.
