Wickmayer thwarts Flipkens in quarters

LUXEMBOURG -- Yanina Wickmayer defeated Kirsten Flipkens 7-6 (1), 4-6, 6-1 in an all-Belgian match Friday to reach the semifinals of the Luxembourg Open. She will play Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland, who beat Katarina Srebotnik 6-7 (3), 6-1, 6-4. Wickmayer is seeking her second straight tournament victory after winning the title in Linz, Austria. Shahar Peer of Israel upset fourth-seeded Daniela Hantuchova 6-2, 7-6 (4). She'll face Sabine Lisicki, who ousted Patty Schnyder 6-4, 6-2.
