Wednesday, September 30, 2009 BANGKOK -- Jurgen Melzer of Austria defeated Turkish qualifier Marsel Ilhan 6-4, 6-2 on Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the Thailand Open. The 44th-ranked Melzer broke his opponent in each set, using his superior baseline game to overcome the 174th-ranked Ilhan. Melzer will play the winner between Donald Young of the United States and Andreas Beck of Germany.
