Monaco ousts Cuevas in quarterfinals

BUCHAREST, Romania -- Third-seeded Juan Monaco of Argentina defeated Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 Friday to advance to the semifinals of the BCR Open Romania. Monaco broke twice to take the first set, but struggled with his serve in the second as Cuevas used breaks to even the match. Monaco dominated in the third, losing just five points on his serve and converting two of his four break points.
