BUCHAREST, Romania -- Third-seeded Juan Monaco of Argentina defeated Pere Riba of Spain 6-4, 6-2 Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of the BCR Open Romania. Monaco, the highest seed left in the competition, never faced a break point in the match. He converted his only break point in the first set and used two more breaks in the second to secure the win.
