Peer, Brianti advance to final

GUANGZHOU, China -- Fifth-seeded Shahar Peer of Israel defeated an injured Peng Shuai of China to advance to the final of the Guangzhou Open. Playing in her third semifinal this year, Peer won the first set 6-4 and was ahead 1-0 in the second when Peng pulled out with an injured right wrist. Peer, who hasn't won a WTA Tour title since 2006, will face eighth-seeded Alberta Brianti of Italy in the final. Brianti beat seventh-seeded Ayumi Morita of Japan 6-3, 7-5.
