Friday, September 18, 2009 GUANGZHOU, China -- Third-seeded Peng Shuai of China advanced to the semifinals of the Guangzhou Open with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Russia's Alexandra Panova on Friday. Peng will next face fifth-seeded Shahar Peer of Israel, who beat Taiwan's Chan Yung-jan 6-3, 6-1. The 23-year-old Peng reached the final in Guangzhou last year, but is still chasing her first WTA Tour singles title. Peer is seeking her first Tour title since 2006.
