Govortsova recovers to advance

GUANGZHOU, China -- Sixth-seeded Olga Govortsova of Belarus beat Han Xinyun of China 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 Monday to reach the second round of the Guangzhou Open. In two other first-round matches in the WTA tournament, Panova of Russia defeated Yurika Sema of Japan 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7) and Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan downed Rika Fujiwara of Japan 6-3, 6-2.
