Rangers activate McCarthy for start

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers have activated right-handed starter Brandon McCarthy and lefty reliever Eddie Guardado as part of their September roster expansion. McCarthy was scheduled to start the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday night against Toronto Blue Jays. He's been sidelined since early June with a stress fracture in his right shoulder.
