FedEx Cup playoffs a misnomer? Maybe not

First, let's get a few things out of the way. The FedEx Cup playoffs, which begin Thursday at The Barclays, are not really "playoffs" in the traditional sense we have come to know through team sports. If so, far fewer players would qualify, and they would be rewarded less for their season's worth of work.
