Wednesday, August 19, 2009 STRIKE ONE -- MAUER POWER DEPT. Joe Mauer woke up Wednesday with a .383 batting average. And you don't often see a number like that on the old leader board this late in a season. Mauer Since George Brett found himself hitting .404, with a .460 OBP and .676 SLG, through Aug. 18 during his run at .400 in 1980, only one other hitter has had a batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage as high as Mauer's (.383/.448/.653) on this date.
