Each team was ranked in the top-five, the capacity crowd was split 50-50, and conference supremacy awaited the victor. That's the idea, at least, for staging a conference championship game in December. In this case, however, the marquee Big 12 game was played between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners in the middle of October -- and the winner didn't even get to participate in the conference championship.
