Rookie pitcher continues to impress as Padres stop Mets

SAN DIEGO -- Rookie pitcher Mat Latos continues to be as good as advertised. Latos pitched six solid innings as won his fourth straight start to help the San Diego Padres prevail 3-1 over the New York Mets on Saturday night. Latos (4-1) gave up one run and four hits in his fifth major league start since being called up from Double-A San Antonio on July 18. The right-hander lowered his ERA to 2.43.
