Page 2 Tuesday, July 21, 2009 WENATCHEE, Wash. -- The Farrar home offers a spectacular view of the Wenatchee Valley and Columbia River, but you have to earn it. The house sits near the top of a daunting stretch of road that rises more than 600 feet in one mile. With an average gradient of 12 percent, it is a beastly little climb. Tyler Farrar bicycled down this road on his way to school as a child, with his mother, Cindy, picking him up at the end of the day to drive him back up the hill. By age 11, Tyler no longer needed ...
