Ten years ago today, Brandi Chastain became an icon. In front of 90,000 fans at the Rose Bowl and 40 million fans tuning in around the world, Chastain netted the winning penalty kick in a shootout against China to win the 1999 Women's World Cup. She celebrated by taking off her jersey and falling to her knees in her sports bra, fists clenched. I knew it as soon as I saw it. We all did.
