ESPN.com Tuesday, July 7, 2009 Avery Johnson will not be the next coach of the Detroit Pistons, who are instead closing in on hiring Cleveland Cavaliers assistant coach John Kuester. Sources close to the process told ESPN.com that the job will instead go to Kuester after the sides quickly reached an agreement in principal Tuesday, with the deal on course to be formally announced Wednesday.
