ESPN.com Thursday, July 2, 2009 The Florida Panthers were able to maximize their value in the Jay Bouwmeester trade Thursday, signing defenseman Jordan Leopold to a one-year deal worth $1.75 million. Florida acquired Leopold's rights and a third-round pick from the Calgary Flames last Saturday at the NHL entry draft in exchange for the rights to Bouwmeester, who subsequently signed with Calgary on the eve of free agency.
