Leafs finally move high-paid D Kubina

The Atlanta Thrashers have acquired veteran defenseman Pavel Kubina and Tim Stapleton from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Colin Stuart and Garnet Exelby. Kubina, a 2004 All-Star, has one year left on his deal at $5 million. Kubina had become injury-prone in recent years, but played a full 82 games in 2008-09 for the first time since the 2001-02 season. He bolsters a young defensive corps in Atlanta that boasts 2008 third overall selection Zach Bogosian and 24-year old Tobias Enstrom. ...
