Layer quickly returns to a familiar spot

It was not the ideal time to try to sell a house, but basketball coaches don't have the luxury of considering fluctuating real estate markets when there's a job to be had. So in May 2008, as the housing market continued its plunge, Dale Layer and his family packed up their things, stuck the for-sale sign in the lawn outside their Lynchburg, Va., home and moved to Wisconsin.
