Tuesday, June 16, 2009 NEW YORK -- Reliever Brian Bruney has been activated by the New York Yankees, who designated Jose Veras for assignment to open a roster spot. Bruney, a 27-year-old right-hander, started the season as Mariano Rivera's set-up man but has pitched just once for the Yankees since April 21 because of a strained right elbow. He blamed the injury on the time he spent warming up during an umpires' video review of a Jorge Posada home run. He returned and pitched an inning on May 19, then went back on ...
