Consider the Lopezes. Brook Lopez was taken with the 10th pick of the 2008 NBA draft, and by all measures, he surpassed expectations. He rebounded, blocked shots and scored better than anyone predicted. Doing unglamorous work for the unloved Nets, he nevertheless made a case for himself as the Rookie of the Year.
