Let's just get this out of the way now: Wayne Gretzky's first appearance in the Cup finals, his Oilers were swept off the ice by the Islanders, the dominant team of the day. His second appearance, the next year? They beat the Islanders, and he won his first Cup. Sidney Crosby lost last year to the Red Wings, the dominant team of the day, and guess what? He's playing the Wings again now. Talk it up.
