ESPN.com Tuesday, May 26, 2009 OKLAHOMA CITY -- The best college softball player in the United States comes from a town just north of the border between Washington and British Columbia. A junior pitcher for the University of Washington, Danielle Lawrie was named USA Softball Player of the Year during Tuesday's opening ceremonies at the Women's College World Series.
