Saturday, April 18, 2009 WASHINGTON -- The Washington Nationals have purchased the contract of infielder Alex Cintron from Triple-A Syracuse. The move Saturday before Washington's game against the Marlins filled a need for a backup infielder after shortstop Cristian Guzman was placed on the 15-day disabled list after Friday's game with Florida retroactive to April 14. Guzman strained his left hamstring in Monday's home opener while leaving the batter's box. Manager Manny Acta said he'll continue to play Alberto Gonzal ... Activate your ESPN Profile!
