Sunday, April 12, 2009 AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Sitting at the head of the table draped in black cloth, surrounded by a small group of family and friends, Gary Player keeps his thoughts to himself. It's three nights before the start of the 2009 Masters, and they are gathered in an airy rented mansion tucked into the pines off Wheeler Road. A chef and his team are prepping dinner in the open kitchen. The hats on the fireplace mantel, specially made for the occasion, have the number 52 printed on them.
