Every journey begins with the first step. When Carl Hubbell beat the Pirates 6-0 one July afternoon in 1936, it hardly was worth a mention. Of course in May 1937, when his personal winning streak had reached 24, all eyes were on Hubbell. Nobody paid much attention to the Lakers when they beat the Baltimore Bullets by four points on November 5, 1971, but that was the springboard to an NBA-record 33-game winning streak.
