Wednesday, April 1, 2009 For a draft that lasted 74 rounds and saw 1,262 players selected, the 1987 First-Year Players Draft sure disappointed, despite the fact that 228 of those picks reached the big leagues, including two from Round 70. This draft lacks star power like a guilty conscience lacks tact. After Ken Griffey Jr. was tabbed as the top overall pick, only Craig Biggio, taken later in Round 1, joined Griffey to enjoy a potential Hall of Fame career.
