ESPN The Magazine Tuesday, March 31, 2009 "Defense wins championships." It's a cliché that gets tossed around in football and basketball, but teams like the 2000 Baltimore Ravens and the late 1980s Detroit Pistons have at least given it some validity. As for baseball, folks typically replace the word "defense" with "pitching," and another cliché is born.
