Michigan State ousts Middle Tennessee despite Clark's 34

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State stymied the nation's leading scorer just in time. Alysha Clark scored 34 points but none in the last 11-plus minutes and fouled out with 1½ minutes left. That gave the ninth-seeded Spartans the boost they needed for a 60-59 win over No. 8 seed Middle Tennessee on Sunday in the NCAA tournament's first round.
