Look around the NHL and the league looks a little different than in the past. The change might be subtle, but the NHL boasts a record 48 players from minority backgrounds who have played this season. Thirty-one of those players have permanent roster spots, and there are 6 or so players from minority groups playing in the AHL or ECHL. "The number is going up and up and up.
