LEXINGTON, Va. -- Chavis Holmes scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help Virginia Military Institute hold off Gardner-Webb 94-88 on Saturday, tying the Keydets' school record for conference wins. VMI (19-4) is 10-2 in Big South Conference play for the first time in school history. In the 1995-96 season, VMI was 10-4 in the Southern Conference.
