Tuesday, January 27, 2009 The National Defensive Player of the Year is a difficult honor to assess. Some defenders put great pressure on the ball without getting steals, and some defenders deny their assignment the ball without getting steals. It is similar to a great cover corner who doesn't get a ton of interceptions because he doesn't allow openings for a quarterback to make throws his way.
