Murray's loss a giant win for Spain

MELBOURNE -- Andy Murray may or may not have been the favorite for the Australian Open, but he will not be the champion. The fourth seed went out of the tournament in the fourth round on Monday, losing 2-6, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 to Fernando Verdasco. It was a big loss for Murray but a giant victory for Spain, putting Verdasco through to the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the first time and removing a major hurdle from Rafael Nadal's path to the final.
