Perez prevails as desert bites back

Back when I was in the fifth grade or so, an enterprising educator taught my class the spelling distinction between "dessert" and "desert" by explaining it thusly: There's an extra "s" in "dessert" because you always want more of it. I'm not sure how many PGA Tour pros are smarter than a fifth grader, but you can excuse many of them for wanting more of the desert -- with one "s" -- after four rounds of the birdie-fest otherwise known as the Bob Hope Classic.
