Back in July 2005, I wrote an article predicting which current major leaguers would someday be Hall of Famers. I reported that based on historical precedent, 40 active players at any given time eventually will be enshrined in Cooperstown. (Certainly that precedent could change, especially if voters prove reluctant to vote in players from the so-called steroids era.)
