Denver's trade for Johan Petro had multiple goals -- it eliminates any possibility of player bonuses pushing it back over the luxury tax line, it gives the team a much-needed serviceable big man to bring off the bench against the likes of Shaquille O'Neal and Yao Ming, and it gives the Nuggets a little more tax wiggle room if they want to make another, more impactful trade.
