McDyess clears waivers, becomes unrestricted free agent

The first step in Antonio McDyess' expected return to the Detroit Pistons became official Monday afternoon when the Denver Nuggets announced that they have waived the veteran forward. The second step followed Wednesday, when McDyess cleared waivers at 2 p.m. and became an unrestricted free agent. McDyess was traded with Chauncey Billups and Cheikh Samb to Denver for Allen Iverson on Nov. 3, and then accepted a contract buyout from the Nuggets worth an estimated $6 million.
