Phillies to name Amaro general manager; Arbuckle leaving front office

The Philadelphia Phillies plan to announce Monday that assistant general manager Ruben Amaro has been promoted to replace departing GM Pat Gillick. A press conference is scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. ET. Amaro, 43, has played an active role in contract talks and personnel decisions as an assistant GM with the Phillies for 10 years under Ed Wade and Gillick.
