Saturday, November 1, 2008 BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Ryan Miller and Thomas Vanek knew the Buffalo Sabres desperately needed a home win. A shutout was merely a bonus. Miller stopped 29 shots for his eighth NHL shutout and Vanek scored twice as the Sabres (7-2-2) snapped a two-game losing skid with a 5-0 victory over the Washington Capitals on Saturday night.
