Oft-injured Rypien to be sidelined indefinitely following sports hernia surgery

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Injury-plagued Vancouver Canucks forward Rick Rypien has a sports hernia that will require surgery and is out indefinitely. Rypien, a gritty fourth-line player, had two goals in the first five games before leaving the team after contracting a virus during a recent six-game road trip.
