Going on five years now, Bear Mountain Resort held its Hot Dawgz and Hand Rails contest, an annual September back-to-shred pre-season kick off. "This was the biggest year we've had, with well over 5000 people attending," said Chris Riddle, director of marketing at Bear. With temperatures still in the mid-70s, crews delivered 300-pound ice blocks by the truckloads, which were then put through what Riddle called, "a wood chipper on steriods," to create that magical white stuff called snow.
