Zvonareva to face Knapp in quarterfinals

GUANGZHOU, China -- Top-seeded Vera Zvonareva defeated Xu Yifan 6-1, 7-6 (4) on Thursday to move into the quarterfinals of the Guangzhou International. Zvonareva, a bronze medalist at the Beijing Olympics, will face Karin Knapp. Fourth-seeded Peng Shuai downed Lu Jingjing 6-3, 6-4 and will play unseeded American Jill Craybas. Tamira Paszek defeated seventh-seeded Pauline Parmentier 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, setting up a match with Zheng Jie, who defeated Raluca Ioana Olaru 6-4, 6-0.
