Wednesday, September 17, 2008 OAKLAND, Calif. -- Oakland Athletics second baseman Mark Ellis will undergo surgery on his right shoulder Friday back home in Arizona. A's manager Bob Geren said Wednesday that Dr. Doug Freedberg will perform the procedure in Scottsdale, Ariz., to repair chips in Ellis' cartilage. He also has a torn labrum that doesn't bother him but that might be repaired as well.
